1. what really pushed you to shift out of journ?
It's not that I shifted out of Journ of my own free will. Let me tell you a story: The first day of my Journ 102 class, Ma'm Simbulan told us "Don't come to me at the end of the sem asking me to... (do something) to your grade, saying you're on probation... Maybe this course is not for you." The first time I saw myself on probation (J101) I felt, "Maybe this isn't for me." The second time I saw myself on probation (and henceforth kicked out), I knew I was shown the way out. Add to that that I don't really like to edit what I write. :D
2. which do you like better: listening to 80s music or to fergie's london bridge? hahaha
80s anytime, chum! They for me are enduring: Air Supply, REO Speedwagon, The Carpenters, ABBA, Queen, Blur, Ace of Bass, Milli Vanilli even, haha. Okay, I know some of them may not be 80s, but I consider them so for ease of categorization.
3. are you happy with your current course, lingguistics? Do you feel that it's really the one for you?
Um, you see, I have realized over half a year ago that Linguistics isn't for me. I have realized I'm not into fieldwork. The fields that I see myself in the future are either Statistics or Economics. :D
4. what are your plans after college?
I see myself taking both those courses, and possibly an MA in Econ. After I college I see myself as an actuary, haha.

Well, I just found out (after four agonizing hours of figuring it out) how to use Blogskins.com skins on my Blogger Beta. All you had to do was to REVERT BACK TO THE OLD LAYOUT. And stupid me was agonizing for four hours on how to translate html to xml(which the blogger beta used, not html).
Well, that's that for now. Am gonna go back to regular blogging in a week's time. See you all! :D

STATUS REPORT
I am still reeling from the effects of the declaration of Lourds of the non-major status of me. But am back on track, having 15 units like I never had anything bad happen to me.
I received the sigsheets of them orgs I am applying for this semester, and am vowing to NOT neglect my studies while applying for orgs. Not that I neglected my studies in the previous semesters, though; I am just cautious since this semester I am applying for more than one org.
Till here for now. Will write as soon as I have the time AND the confidence in myself again.

Project Proposal
The Statistics Library Utility Survey
The Statistics Library Utility Survey (SLUS) will, with consent of supervising Stat 114 instructor Prof. Josefina V. Almeda, be conducted by Group _________________ of Stat 114 TFX, the member of which are above-mentioned. The overall objective of SLUS is to provide an overview of the utility function of the School of Statistics Library (from hereon referred to as simply 'library') as assessed by the said School's studentry. It further aims to:
1.measure the value of the utility of the library as perceived by its primary constituent users, the undegraduate students of the School of Statistics;
2.determine its positive qualities that cater to its users, and the negative qualities that hinder them from fully utilizing the various facilites and sections of the library;
3.assess the extent of usage of BS (Statistics) librarygoers in their Statistics courses; and
4.determine what, in the opinion of the students, can be done to improve the library.
Specifically, the objectives of the SLUS are the following:
1.To determine the level of visibility of the library as perceived by Statistics students;
2.To estimate the number of hours spent in the library by students relative to their Statistics subjects;
3.To quantify the convenience and ease of use of library facilities ;
4.To determine the level of assistance provided by the library staff;
5.To estimate the number of books and other library materials taken out by Statistics students;
6.To estimate the frequency by which students use the library;
7.To ascertain the usefulness of library facilities to its primary constituent users; and
8.To determine the positive characteristics of the library and recommend measures to provide for the inconveniences faced by the Statistics studentry.

INTP
Okay, now here is something really weird. Lourdes Portus, in accordance with my rehabilitation in the College as a vagrant non-major, sent me to the Office of Counseling and Guidance(OCG). Now they made me take a version of the Myers-Briggs standardized exam, and I came out as INTP. A few months ago I took an internet test (as with anything in the internet, I dunno if it's reliable, of course),something like Jung-Myers-Briggs, and I came up with ISFP. But I disregard the previous result since I more rely on standardized clinical results, thank you very much. And here is what I've found in the Internet about the INTP type:
According to Joe Butt
INTPs are pensive, analytical folks. They may venture so deeply into thought as to seem detached, and often actually are oblivious to the world around them.
Precise about their descriptions, INTPs will often correct others (or be sorely tempted to) if the shade of meaning is a bit off. While annoying to the less concise, this fine discrimination ability gives INTPs so inclined a natural advantage as, for example, grammarians and linguists.
INTPs are relatively easy-going and amenable to most anything until their principles are violated, about which they may become outspoken and inflexible. They prefer to return, however, to a reserved albeit benign ambiance, not wishing to make spectacles of themselves.
A major concern for INTPs is the haunting sense of impending failure. They spend considerable time second-guessing themselves. The open-endedness (from Perceiving) conjoined with the need for competence (NT) is expressed in a sense that one's conclusion may well be met by an equally plausible alternative solution, and that, after all, one may very well have overlooked some critical bit of data. An INTP arguing a point may very well be trying to convince himself as much as his opposition. In this way INTPs are markedly different from INTJs, who are much more confident in their competence and willing to act on their convictions.
Mathematics is a system where many INTPs love to play, similarly languages, computer systems--potentially any complex system. INTPs thrive on systems. Understanding, exploring, mastering, and manipulating systems can overtake the INTP's conscious thought. This fascination for logical wholes and their inner workings is often expressed in a detachment from the environment, a concentration where time is forgotten and extraneous stimuli are held at bay. Accomplishing a task or goal with this knowledge is secondary.
INTPs and Logic -- One of the tipoffs that a person is an INTP is her obsession with logical correctness. Errors are not often due to poor logic -- apparent faux pas in reasoning are usually a result of overlooking details or of incorrect context.
Games NTs seem to especially enjoy include Risk, Bridge, Stratego, Chess, Go, and word games of all sorts. (I have an ENTP friend that loves Boggle and its variations. We've been known to sit in public places and pick a word off a menu or mayonnaise jar to see who can make the most words from its letters on a napkin in two minutes.) The INTP mailing list has enjoyed a round of Metaphore, virtual volleyball, and a few 'finish the series' brain teasers.

As an INTP, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you deal with things rationally and logically. Your secondary mode is external, where you take things in primarily via your intuition.
INTPs live in the world of theoretical possibilities. They see everything in terms of how it could be improved, or what it could be turned into. They live primarily inside their own minds, having the ability to analyze difficult problems, identify patterns, and come up with logical explanations. They seek clarity in everything, and are therefore driven to build knowledge. They are the "absent-minded professors", who highly value intelligence and the ability to apply logic to theories to find solutions. They typically are so strongly driven to turn problems into logical explanations, that they live much of their lives within their own heads, and may not place as much importance or value on the external world. Their natural drive to turn theories into concrete understanding may turn into a feeling of personal responsibility to solve theoretical problems, and help society move towards a higher understanding.
INTPs value knowledge above all else. Their minds are constantly working to generate new theories, or to prove or disprove existing theories. They approach problems and theories with enthusiasm and skepticism, ignoring existing rules and opinions and defining their own approach to the resolution. They seek patterns and logical explanations for anything that interests them. They're usually extremely bright, and able to be objectively critical in their analysis. They love new ideas, and become very excited over abstractions and theories. They love to discuss these concepts with others. They may seem "dreamy" and distant to others, because they spend a lot of time inside their minds musing over theories. They hate to work on routine things - they would much prefer to build complex theoretical solutions, and leave the implementation of the system to others. They are intensely interested in theory, and will put forth tremendous amounts of time and energy into finding a solution to a problem with has piqued their interest.
INTPs do not like to lead or control people. They're very tolerant and flexible in most situations, unless one of their firmly held beliefs has been violated or challenged, in which case they may take a very rigid stance. The INTP is likely to be very shy when it comes to meeting new people. On the other hand, the INTP is very self-confident and gregarious around people they know well, or when discussing theories which they fully understand.
The INTP has no understanding or value for decisions made on the basis of personal subjectivity or feelings. They strive constantly to achieve logical conclusions to problems, and don't understand the importance or relevance of applying subjective emotional considerations to decisions. For this reason, INTPs are usually not in-tune with how people are feeling, and are not naturally well-equiped to meet the emotional needs of others.
The INTP may have a problem with self-aggrandizement and social rebellion, which will interfere with their creative potential. Since their Feeling side is their least developed trait, the INTP may have difficulty giving the warmth and support that is sometimes necessary in intimate relationships. If the INTP doesn't realize the value of attending to other people's feelings, he or she may become overly critical and sarcastic with others. If the INTP is not able to find a place for themself which supports the use of their strongest abilities, they may become generally negative and cynical. If the INTP has not developed their Sensing side sufficiently, they may become unaware of their environment, and exhibit weakness in performing maintenance-type tasks, such as bill-paying and dressing appropriately.
For the INTP, it is extremely important that ideas and facts are expressed correctly and succinctly. They are likely to express themselves in what they believe to be absolute truths. Sometimes, their well thought-out understanding of an idea is not easily understandable by others, but the INTP is not naturally likely to tailor the truth so as to explain it in an understandable way to others. The INTP may be prone to abandoning a project once they have figured it out, moving on to the next thing. It's important that the INTP place importance on expressing their developed theories in understandable ways. In the end, an amazing discovery means nothing if you are the only person who understands it.
The INTP is usually very independent, unconventional, and original. They are not likely to place much value on traditional goals such as popularity and security. They usually have complex characters, and may tend to be restless and temperamental. They are strongly ingenious, and have unconventional thought patterns which allows them to analyze ideas in new ways. Consequently, a lot of scientific breakthroughs in the world have been made by the INTP.
The INTP is at his best when he can work on his theories independently. When given an environment which supports his creative genius and possible eccentricity, the INTP can accomplish truly remarkable things. These are the pioneers of new thoughts in our society.
CAREERS FOR INTP PERSONALITY TYPES
Whether you're a young adult trying to find your place in the world, or a not-so-young adult trying to find out if you're moving along the right path, it's important to understand yourself and the personality traits which will impact your likeliness to succeed or fail at various careers. It's equally important to understand what is really important to you. When armed with an understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, and an awareness of what you truly value, you are in an excellent position to pick a career which you will find rewarding.
INTPs generally have the following traits:
Love theory and abstract ideas
Truth Seekers - they want to understand things by analyzing underlying principles and structures
Value knowledge and competence above all else
Have very high standards for performance, which they apply to themselves
Independent and original, possibly eccentric
Work best alone, and value autonomy
Have no desire to lead or follow
Dislike mundane detail
Not particularly interested in the practical application of their work
Creative and insightful
Future-oriented
Usually brilliant and ingenius
Trust their own insights and opinions above others
Live primarily inside their own minds, and may appear to be detached and uninvolved with other people
INTPs have a special gift with generating and analyzing theories and possibilities to prove or disprove them. They have a great deal of insight and are creative thinkers, which allows them to quickly grasp complex abstract thoughts. They also have exceptional logical and rational reasoning skills, which allows them to thoroughly analyze theories to discover the Truth about them. Since the INTP is driven to seek clarity in the world, we have a happy match of desire and ability in this personality type. INTPs will be happiest in careers which allow them a great deal of autonomy in which they can work primarily alone on developing and analyzing complex theories and abstractions, with the goal of their work being the discovery of a truth, rather than the discovery of a practical application.

What makes an INTP tick?
The Dominant function is the judging one of Thinking. Characteristics associated with this function include:
Likes making decisions on the basis of logic, using objective considerations
Is concerned with truth, principles and justice
Is analytical and critical, tending to see the flaws in situations
Takes an objective approach
The judging Thinking function is introverted. That is, Thinking is used primarily to govern the inner world of thoughts and emotions. The INTP will therefore:
spend time thinking analytically, organising thoughts on a logical basis
develop an understanding of the principles involved in a situation
spontaneously feel critical of a person or situation, but not necessarily express that criticism
be inwardly decisive, but not communicate those decisions to others
think mostly about impersonal issues, focusing more on concepts, truths and systems rather than individuals' feelings
The Thinking function is primarily supported by extraverted iNtuitive perception. That is, iNtuitive perception is used primarily to manage the outer world of actions and spoken words. This will modify the way that the Thinking is directed, by:
focusing the (inner world) Thinking on understanding possibilities for the future
perceiving patterns in information to support the logical analysis
The classic temperament of an INTP is Promethean, or Phlegmatic, for whom a basic driving force is the search for competence or excellence.
Contributions to the team of an INTP
In a team environment, the INTP can contribute by:
using analytical and critical skills to solve problems
focusing attention on the central issue
providing intellectual insight
suggesting ideas that achieve long and short term aims
viewing information objectively
The potential ways in which an INTP can irritate others include:
being too intellectual
finding too many flaws, and not accepting imperfect but 'good enough' solutions
not taking account of others' feelings
suggesting ideas and then appearing to change his/her mind
leave others to worry about implementation once the major problems have been solved
clinging to a principle at the expense of relationships and harmony
Personal Growth
As with all types, the INTP can achieve personal growth by developing all functions that are not fully developed, through actions such as:
expressing appreciation towards others
working within other people's limitations
accepting and praising others' imperfect efforts, if they are 'good enough'
consulting others more, and involving them in decisions, to engender ownership of the solution
spending time to develop personal relationships for their own sake
learning to acknowledge and develop the INTP's own emotions and personal values
Recognising Stress
As stress increases, 'learned behaviour' tends to give way to the natural style, so the INTP will behave more according to type when under greater stress. For example, in a crisis, the INTP might:
withdraw to think about the central issue that needs attention
suggest various ideas, and use the feedback received to support the intellectual analysis
debate the issue from an intellectual point of view, and leave it very late before making a decision
criticise others efforts and ignore their feelings
Under extreme stress, fatigue or illness, the INTP's shadow may appear - a negative form of ESFJ. Example characteristics are:
expressing intense negative emotions towards others
being very sensitive to criticism
becoming preoccupied with details, without any logical basis
interpreting facts or events in a very subjective way
The shadow is part of the unconscious that is often visible to others, onto whom the shadow is projected. The INTP may therefore readily see these faults in others without recognising it in him/her self.

In the end, it was all worth it.

I'm afraid I can't hang out at the UJP tambayan this coming year. But rest assured I will be there come GAs or special meetings or IP Committee activities. Am the Head of the Department of Poisons and Antidotes of the College of Substances, also doubling as the chief of the Apothecary for the Department of the National Defense. Ahem.
BUT SERIOUSLY
Am a 4th year University of the Philippines student, but currently am a non-major in the College of Mass Communication. I can write, but am really unsure of whether I write well. This is a somewhat faithful version of what I keep in my paper diaries. And yes, I DO write my diaries MANUALLY. I've already filled up thirty-three Papemelroti notebooks, and am on my thirty-four. I love to eat, and boy, my diet sure can pack the pounds on even Palito. I now am planning to reduce weight, but will execute after the hell weeks are over. :D Am planning to shift to either BS Economics or BS Statistics. Wish me luck! :D
